The process of building your home:
The first step is finding a lot that is suitable for your family and house design. It is a good idea to find the lot first, and then begin the designing of your home. Depending on the size of the lot and restriction, you might have to alter a plan you may already have. Entre can help assist you in your land search as well.
Once a lot is selected, a meeting with an architect would be the next step. The architect should visit the lot before drawing to take note of elevations, topo, roadside and sun directions. The placement of a house is very important. The architect will probably schedule meetings at different stages of the drafting, to verify he or she is on track with your design requirements and that they are in line with your building budget. Disclosing your building budget is essential for the designing of your plan, so the architect can create a design to meet your budget. Entre has a design/build team in place that can assist you in designing your home, or you can hirer your own architect as well.
The next stage is to have your builder price the plan. This will usually include any clearing that might be needed on the lot, as well as putting in a driveway. Your builder will need at that point some idea of what you may want as far as a trim package, floor coverings, kitchen layouts, window manufacturer, brick and/or stone selections, etc. Your builder should give you a list of things needed to price, so that they can give you the most accurate price to build your home. Entre will work hand in hand with your architect to assure you that everything you want is addressed. We have access to many subcontractors that we have worked with throughout our 30+ years to guide you with questions and selections. Our customers have found that the selection process is not only educational, but enjoyable as well.
Once an agreed upon price has been determined, the plans go to the county of which the home will reside for approval. After the approval, which can take up to three weeks, the excavation shall begin. The time for completion depends on the size of the home. Most of our homes are built in the time frame of 8 – 12 months. We employ a carpenter crew that Mike works side by side with, for quality insurance. Mike Blevins, President, is not only the head foreman, but also the lead carpenter for all of our homes. His 38 plus years of knowledge and experience in the custom home building industry, is an asset everyone wants on their team.
